Lions Drug Awareness Project wins second International Gong!

Lions innovative drug awareness project has taken out first prize in the Australia and New Zealand Internet Awards(ANZIA. The award for the “Information Website” section was announced at the awards gala dinner in Melbourne last night. This followed on from its successful international internet “Webby Award” last year.

Australian Lions flagship drug abuse prevention agency The Australian Lions Drug Awareness Foundation Inc (ALDAF) partnered with the Drug Education Network Inc. in 2008 to take alcohol and drug awareness into the future, making it more accessible to younger Australians.

Chairperson of the Australian Lions Drug Awareness Foundation, David Daniels OAM tells the story about winning the award.

“The Australian Lions Drug Awareness (TINO project) entered one of six categories, this being the category of information, and as you know, we WON! It was an excellent result as we were up against some very good organisations, both corporate and not for profit.

I have congratulated Lynsey and Dave from the project team at the Drug Education Network for their input into the submission and as your chair I was very honored to be part of the presentation. I left Lynsey to sleep with the trophy but I brought home the cheque for $2,500 as winner. Who would have thought that after the Foundations very nervous launch of TINO in Darwin in 2008 that we would be finalists in the World Webby Awards and winners in the ANZIA (Australian and New Zealand Internet Awards)? It’s a great effort.

More importantly, the Australian Lions Drug Awareness Foundation should be congratulated for having the foresight and commitment to develop, fund and deliver this International Award Winning Project.”

A great example of Lions history of innovation and success in improving the health of Australians!
